Board Of Trustees

HIPDET is owned by Non Profit Foundation created in Cameroon in 2003 (Solid Foundation Cameroon). HIPDET is an independent, private and nonprofit institution of higher
education established initially in 2013 by charter of the foundation that has a special and unique relationship with the local communities.
The Foundation has appointed and put in place a governance structure. The institution governance structure aims to facilitate institution development, effective innovation and
pass on knowledge, and enhance education quality and competitiveness, in order to cultivate talents needed by the society and to provide ser-
vices for the society. The concept of institution governance stresses that each structure is obliged to pursue diversity and excellence under its criteria and environment,
to develop outstanding education with focus.

The board of trustee has been legally empowered by the foundation to establish the goverrnance and organization pattern of the Institution. It is the legally empowered entity to develop policies, resources, and direction for the Institution. Legal ownership of the Institution and its resources resides in the foundation as a body. The Board of Trustees delegates to the President the authority to organize the pattern of administration, develop the faculty and the staff, and to engage in further delegations of authority to selected general and associate general officers and to the faculty of the Institution for the detailed administration of the Institution. The Board of Trustees exercises ultimate institutional authority and control and its policy statements take precedence over all other institutional statements, documents and policies. But the Board does not intrude on the prerogatives of the day-to-day operation and administration of the institution, which are delegated to the president.

The structure and work of the Board are stated in the Institution's charter and ByLaws.
These have been updated periodically via reviews and amendments by the foundation and the President, and are presented in what follows their latest form as the HIPDET's
Governance Document. According to the By-Laws.

Accreditaion

Its is a good idea for students, families, partners and all those interested in college education to learn about different types of accreditation. Knowing about accreditation types makes it easier to determine whether your prospective program has been awarded the correct type of accreditation.

Accreditation is the process of validation in which an institution is evaluated. The standards for accreditation are set by a peer review board whose members may be professionals, professional bodies, organizations, government or other institutions.
Educational accreditation is a type of quality assurance process by which services, and operations of educational institutions or programs are evaluated by an external body to determine if applicable standards are met. If standards are met, accredited status is granted by the appropriate body.

HIPDET is a global training organization, authorized in Cameroon by the Ministries of Higher education and Employment and vocational training. Our Graduate and Postgraduate programs are ACBSP and DEAC accredited. Meaning students can  earn internationally recognized degrees through our partner universities.

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance Process

As part of our overall educational, research, and service missions, we develop ongoing partnerships with international universities, professional institutions and bodies, companies and other institutions in and outside of Cameroon. These partnerships, formalized through agreements, promote student, faculty, and staff exchanges as well as international research, service, and economic development opportunities. As we have actively pursued the goal of becoming “A Leading Cameroon institution of professional training with International Reach,” the number and complexity of our partners and such agreements have increased. Our quality assurance policy and guidelines are meant to ensure that the institution’s national and international agreements are developed and reviewed in a systematic way, carefully considering high quality and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Conscious of its primary role, HIPDET strives to create courses which are relevant and timely in response to the needs of the country. The programmes on offer at the institution are designed to produce highly qualified professionals, with experience in research, who will play key roles in industry, commerce and public affairs in general. Our institutional pride and responsibilities push us to review our taught programmes to ensure their relevance, appropriateness and utility in relation to progress in the respective fields, the needs of the local economy and also the wider calling of the institution in a global context.

Quality assurance at HIPDET is a shared responsibility between the Rectorate, schools, departments and training Centres of the institution. In order to ensure that its awards and service provision are of the highest standards, we have in place a number of mechanisms which are described in various quality assurance manuals .

Responsibilities in the Management of Quality and Standards

The Board of trustees is the supreme governing body of the institution and is responsible for appointing new members of staff in academic, technical and administrative positions.
The Academic Board is responsible for academic governance and thus, it regulates programmes of study, methods of assessment, entry regulations, and considers student requests, among other things.
We currently have 05 schools and a number of interdisciplinary departments and Centres. The heads of each of these structures direct the academic business of each structure and submit to the academic board recommendations on teaching programmes and other matters which may include research and extramoral activities.
Heads of structures (which may be schools, departments or centers) are appointed by the academic board and are responsible for the implementation of regulations and bye-laws governing relevant programmes of study. They are also responsible for monitoring and evaluating programmes of study and making recommendations for improvement thereof, as well as monitoring assessment procedures and students’ performance and progression.
We make sure students are represented on every board involved in academic governance.

Message From The President

Greetings from the Higher Institute for Professional Development and Training (HIPDET)!

Lately, vocational education was included among the top priorities of the Cameroon informal and formal education sectors. The good news is that current research data shows that vocational education graduates face relatively fewer difficulties in finding employment.

The HIGHER INSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONALDEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING as the name implies seeks to build professional capacities in young people, ushering them into lucrative careers. It is structured to fill existing gaps in the professional education system in Cameroon by introducing new productive fields of study; introducing an innovative practical-based approach of study and responding to employers’ specific needs for professionalism. To this end, our goal is to offer the necessary training to expand not only on chances to succeed at related examinations but also to increase professional suitability that instantly attracts employers in this era of economic competition. We take pride in our numerous partnerships with leading companies for the practical training we emphasize.

At HIPDET, we capitalize on the importance of training learners the secrets of performing highly and excelling on jobs. History

HIPDET is a modern progressive tertiary training institution dedicated to developing professional capacities into young people and assisting them into lucrative careers. HIPDET is  the brain child of Solid Foundation Cameroon (an NGO created in 2003). As the name implies, HIPDET was inspired by the mission of Solid Foundation Cameroon. Created in 2008 in Bamenda- Cameroon, the institution was granted accreditation in 2013 as a Vocational training institution by the Ministry of employment and Vocational training and in 2015 following our contribution in the vocational sector in the country, the institution was accredited as a private university by the ministry of Higher education.

We strive to accomodate a proactive and progressive professional educational environment, that identifies and addresses the changing developmental and professional needs of trainees s, empowering transformational change toward self-awareness and community participation.

Professional education is concerned with the growth of student's intellectual, emotional, social, physical, artistic and creative potentials. We are unique as a leader in the research, design, and implementation of Professional education using state-of-the-art technologies. Our collaborative alliances and partnerships with industry leaders bridge 21st Century learners with 21st Century technology and Cameroon’s emerging economy by 2035.

We equally strive to provide alternative state-of-the-art professional educational and living environment for students using peer-community development protocols and transformative processes, supportive of the community socio-economic structure, resulting in habilitated and productive professionals who contribute to society.

We believe our first responsibility is to prepare the students to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing Cameroon. Our strategy in a peer-based community atmosphere facilitates students to perceive and understand the various contexts that shape and give meaning to life. Introducing students to a professional view of the Country, life on Earth, the emerging world community, and the students’ interdependence demonstrates best practices of systems thinking. The environment and staff will nurture the development of emotional and multiple intelligences empowering each student’s personal growth. Engaging systems thinking requires student involvement in the research and design of their educational process, which creates ownership of learning.

A collaborative approach toward problem solving develops critical interpersonal skills. Emerging technologies and their integration into our curriculum provide the students with real-time real-world experiences that prepare them for entering professional life.

Imagine a fully integrated approach to inspiring and challenging our trainees of today... aware of our problems and quickly focusing on creative solutions that empower balanced choice. The human race has entered a new era, an evolution in educational and social methodologies. Visionary perspectives lead to paradigm changes in society. Our world faces critical situations in developing our future society. Humanity is ripe for change. Primary areas of concern are commerce, education, administration of resources, and intense exploration into the depths of what keeps us afraid, angry, ignorant and immobile. At HIPDET, students then have the opportunity to turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
